Riri Riza is a leading figure in Indonesian film. A director, producer and screenwriter, Riri graduated in 1993 from the Jakarta Arts Institute, where he majored in film directing. Riza directed his first feature film, Kuldesak, in 1998. Together with Mira Lesmana (as Miles Films), Riza has also become a film producer. Their Ada Apa dengan Cinta? (2002), directed by Rudy Soedjarwo, had two million viewers in 2002, Indonesian cinema’s biggest box-office draw. He has directed over 20 films including Gie (2005),Untuk Rena (2005), and 3 Hari Untuk Selamanya (2007), Laskar Pelangi (2008), Sokola Rimba (2013) and Atambua 39° Celsius (2012) Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2 (2016) and Rangga & Cinta (2025). Riri was a member of the inaugural ReelOzInd! Jury in 2016.
Katrina Lucas is an independent documentary filmmaker with 20 years industry experience. Her work has screened internationally with ABC, SBS, Al Jazeera, the UN Headquarters and Berlinale. She was producer of A Field Guide to Being a 12-Year-Old Girl – which was awarded a Crystal Bear at the 2018 Berlinale – and the animated documentary series A Game of Three Halves, which was selected for Hot Docs 2021. Katrina’s most recent feature film Songs Inside, about a music program in the Adelaide Women’s Prison, won the prestigious Film Prize at the 2025 CinfestOz Film Festival, the Documentary Australia prize at the 2025 Sydney Film Festival and in 2026 was nominated for three AACTA Awards including Best Documentary.
Kiki Febriyanti is an Indonesian filmmaker and visual artist. She was selected as Best Director at the STEPS International Film Festival 2013 in Ukraine with her first documentary Don’t Call Me I’m Crazy! Her film, Calalai In-Betweenness made its Asian Premiere at the Seoul International Women’s Film Festival (SIWFF) and has been screened at various international film festivals. In 2015, she was awarded a scholarship and completed the John Darling Fellowship in Australia. Kiki often addresses issues of gender, human rights, and culture in her artwork.
Sam Hewison is a French-Australian non-fiction producer and assistant director, currently based in New York. Sam is co-founder of Melbourne-based film collective Dogmilk, a graduate from L’Ecole documentaire de Lussas and has been working with filmmakers in Indonesia for several years. After working as development executive at Paris-based production company Wheelhouse Productions, he is currently associate producer at Correspondent Productions in and Workshops Producer at UnionDocs in NYC.
Belinda Lopez is a Spanish-Australian writer, documentary audio maker and anthropologist who first moved to Indonesia in her early 20s and fell in love with the country and the wonderful people she met there. She has worked in English-language local media in Jakarta and has undertaken research and storytelling projects with West Papuan communities. She is now a fellow at Macquarie University in Sydney.
Eric Sasono is an Indonesian film critic who earned his doctoral degree in Film Studies from King’s College London in 2019. He co-founded Marginalia.id, an online media platform that organizes public screenings of Indonesian films in the UK and promotes Indonesian culture to audiences there and beyond. From 2009 to 2019, Eric served as the secretary of the executive board of YMMFI, the Indonesian Independent Film Society Foundation. During his tenure, the foundation established the Indonesian Documentary Center (In-Docs) and organized the now-defunct Jakarta International Film Festival (JIFFest).
Chairun Nissa is an Indonesian director of documentaries and fiction films, focusing on social, environmental, and humanitarian issues. A graduate of the Jakarta Arts Institute (IKJ), she is known for her sensitive cinematic approach, which is close to the realities of society. Her documentary, Semesta, a film about the climate crisis and sustainability practices in various regions of Indonesia, received widespread attention and was nominated for Best Documentary Film at the Piala Maya. Her works have screened at various international forums and festivals, including the International Documentary Film Amsterdam (IDFA). Her short fiction film Purnama di Pesisir, received a Special Jury Mention at the Rome Independent Film Festival. She was John Darling Fellow at the Australian National University and also a fellow of the American Showcase at the University of Southern California, which strengthened her network and developed her film practice internationally.
Darcy Moore is captain of the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Darcy started learning Indonesian at school in Melbourne and has carried on his deep interest in Indonesia and Australia’s relationship with our near neighbour during his university studies, including a MA in International Relations. Darcy also has a passion for the arts and film and in 2025 served as an ambassador for the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF).
